The defendant freight forwarders issued bills of lading to the plaintiffs for carriage of consignments of goods from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, California. The bills named Artist Fashion as consignee and were straight, non-negotiable bills of lading. The Hague-Visby Rules were compulsorily applicable.
