Shipowners brought arbitration proceedings against charterers in respect of demurrage at both discharge ports (Conakry and Banjul). $132,562 was claimed at Conakry and $185,243 at Banjul. The charterers had made various payments such that whilst the owners' total claims on the balance of account amounted to $261,768, the charterers denied liability and contended that they were due $34,592.
