On 8 December 2007 at 0247 a collision occurred in the Gulf of Aden in good visibility between the VLCC SAMCO Europe, heading for Rotterdam, and the containership MSC Prestige, heading for Mauritius. Each vessel claimed that the other was primarily to blame for the collision.
